Filtration plays a key role in maintaining your HOFFMAN & LAMSON multistage centrifugal blower's reliable and efficient performance while protecting your downstream processes. Failure to maintain filter elements puts your centrifugal blower, other plant equipment, and operation at risk.
HOFFMAN & LAMSON high-efficiency OEM filters offer the lowest initial restriction of any blower inlet filter system, which allows your blowers to operate at low power loads for longer service intervals. Through preventative maintenance, and continuing support we can help you reduce wasted energy, prevent bearing failure, and other typical issues before they become larger problems.
Saving a little on filter elements now can end up costing you a lot in efficiency loss, equipment failure, and unplanned downtime.
Your plant preventative maintenance budget should include filter changes at regular intervals. However, many wastewater treatment plants delay or avoid changing filter elements. The result? Increased operating costs. The consequences of delaying or avoiding filter element changes are significantly more expensive than the cost of replacement filter elements. Operating your blowers with partially or fully exploited filter elements increases power consumption, causes excessive heat, accelerates lubricant breakdown, encourages vibration, and reduces diffuser life. These factors can contribute to increased electricity costs, reduced performance, and risk of system failure.
Power consumption is a result of inlet restriction, which increases kilowatt-hours, reducing blower performance, and increasing power consumption. Failure to replace your filter elements regularly can have dramatic power consumption consequences. Old, dirty, or obstructed filers can add to inlet restriction, reducing blower performance and increasing electricity costs.
High inlet restrictions require a motor to work harder, which increases thermal resistance, accelerating equipment wear and reducing motor life. Operating at higher than necessary inlet restrictions from a dirty filter element increases oil temperatures and accelerates lubricant breakdown, which can result in bearing failure and unplanned downtime.
Long before a blower goes into surge, vibration begins to increase due to excess inlet restriction damaging check valves and bearings.
Diffuser membranes require adequate flow to efficiently diffuse oxygen. When inlet filters are clogged, blower output must be increased to maintain DO levels, increasing power requirements. Worse, when high inlet restriction prevents minimum output levels when blowers are idled, diffusers can become clogged with effluent. This reduces diffuser life.
